Growth & Housing in Heber

Growth isn’t coming to Heber — it’s already here. The question is whether we manage it wisely, or let developers shape our future for us.

Growth brings opportunities: jobs, businesses, and services. But if we don’t plan carefully, it also brings traffic, sprawl, and higher costs for local families. My approach is simple: guide growth so it benefits our community, not just outside developers.

Smart Growth, Not Scraps

Too often, growth decisions are made in ways that leave residents with the scraps while developers walk away with the best pieces. I believe we can do better. Smart growth means:

  • Requiring development that fits our community’s character and values.

  • Making sure new projects pay their fair share for the infrastructure they require.

  • Planning ahead so roads, schools, and services can keep up with new growth.

Affordable Housing for Local Families

One of the biggest challenges we face is housing affordability. Teachers, firefighters, police officers, service workers, and young families are being priced out of the community they serve.

On the City Council, I’ll push for practical solutions to create housing options for local families, including:

  • Encouraging a mix of housing types, from starter homes to senior living.

  • Exploring policies like deed restrictions that keep homes affordable for the long term.

  • Supporting housing near jobs and services to reduce traffic and keep neighborhoods connected.

Affordable housing isn’t about changing who we are — it’s about making sure Heber stays a place where the people who make our community thrive can still live here.

My Commitment

I’m not anti-growth. Growth, done right, can strengthen Heber and improve our quality of life. But unmanaged growth will overwhelm us. I’ll fight for a balanced approach that protects our small-town character while keeping Heber affordable, livable, and welcoming for the next generation.
